Writing

Ben recently completed writing and publishing a family history/memoir that celebrates family experiences and values, especially for young people. He was inspired by the “mountains” of letters, photographs, and other memorabilia handed down from his parents and grandparents.

 

Family

After living in Chicago, Asia, and Milton, Massachusetts, Ben and his wife, Barbara, moved to Bozeman, Montana in 2015. They also maintain a home in Randolph, New Hampshire. Ben and Barbara have been married over forty-five years and have three grown children and four grandchildren.

 

Careers

Ben worked in commercial and international banking for eighteen years in Chicago, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul and Boston. In 1992 he changed careers and worked in philanthropic advancement at Milton Academy, Brown University, and Dexter Southfield School. For several additional years he was a life/executive coach.

 

Volunteer

In addition to his professional roles in philanthropy, Ben has held leadership/trustee positions in several fields and communities. Particular roles included church, an inner city mission, a museum, a community foundation, and a mountain club. Currently, is active on the boards of the Bozeman Symphony Orchestra and Baroque Music Montana.

 

Education

Education includes a BA in History from Harvard University, and MBA from University of Chicago, various courses in life coaching, and experience as a father and grandfather.

 

Military

Ben served as an officer during the Vietnam War on a US Navy destroyer and received an honorable discharge.

 

Interests

Nature, foreign cultures and music have always been important interests. Ben continues to ski (back country, alpine and nordic), hike and road bike. More recently he became a master gardener and assists his wife in her gardening activities.
